What is the Explorers Grand Slam – the Last Degree?

The Explorers Grand Slam – the Last Degree involves climbing the seven highest mountains in world on seven continents, and trekking to both North and South poles.

When will you do the Grand Slam?

From May to December once all plans are finalised.

In what order will you tackle the peaks and the Poles?

Starting in January with the South Pole, then: Vinson Massif, Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, Cartenez Pyramid, Mount Elbrus, North Pole, Mount Everest, finally Mount Denali.

How are you getting near to both Poles?

Flying close to the poles on special aircraft.

Will you be using oxygen?

Yes, we will be using supplementary oxygen.

Are you tackling it alone?

No …I will be taking on the challenge along with Kenton Cool, myself and possibly cameraman if we get the funding …

How much training have you had?

Training has been on-going for over three years now and is continuing until departure.

Who is the current fastest record holder?

Current holder for fastest time is American Colin O’Brady.

Do you need to follow a special diet?

I am following a controlled diet with no special foods or supplements.

How will you celebrate at the end?

To celebrate I’ll thank Kenton, my wife, friends and all the team and people who have helped me in this then I’ll have a glass o bubbly my favourite champers Pol Roger!
